INVESTING IN KENYA’S MINERAL POTENTIAL

The National Mining Corporation (NAMICO), in alignment with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Kenya Vision 2030, is advancing strategic investments aimed at unlocking the value of Kenya’s mineral resources through sustainable development, value addition and commercialization.

For the Financial Year 2026/2027, the Corporation has obtained the requisite National Treasury approvals to undertake two priority mineral investment projects through a Joint Venture (JV) model:

1. Development and Commercialization of Copper and Associated Minerals

This project seeks to unlock the potential of Kenya’s copper resources and associated minerals through sustainable exploration, resource development, processing, value addition and commercialization.

2. Development and Commercialization of Chromite and Associated Minerals

The project focuses on the development and commercialization of chromite resources and associated minerals, with emphasis on value addition, industrial development and the establishment of commercially viable mineral enterprises.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

NAMICO is seeking to partner with credible, financially and technically capable strategic investors through Joint Venture arrangements to develop these priority mineral projects.

The partnerships will leverage private-sector capital, technical expertise, technology and innovation to accelerate the responsible development and commercialization of Kenya’s mineral resources.

The projects are expected to contribute to:

  • Value addition and mineral beneficiation

  • Employment and wealth creation

  • Technology and skills transfer

  • Investment mobilization

  • Revenue generation

  • Industrial development

  • Sustainable utilization of Kenya’s mineral resources
